Patients can now have their prescriptions sent electronically directly to a Pharmacy of their choice, this service is called “Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions” (EPS).  This function offers improved convenience for patients, and can be set up either by any UK Pharmacy or by asking staff at the surgery.  To hear about it, follow the link below:

If you are interested in this service, please inform reception staff or request this through the Pharmacy direct.  Leaflets are available: summary guide for patients alternative languages: 4742latvian 4742polish 4742romanian 4742russian

If you need to see a doctor out of hours between 6.30pm and 8.00am Monday-Thursday or from 6.30pm Friday to 8.00am Monday, please ring ‘I-Heart Barnsley 365’ on 01226 242419.  For clinical advice and pre-bookable appointments please ring 01226 242419 between Monday-Friday 8.00am-6.30pm and Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays 9.00am-1.00pm.

Our local Pharmacists also operate a Minor Ailments Scheme, which means rather than booking an appointment with the GP surgery for a minor complaint, the Pharmacy can treat this and issue medicines – these prescribed items will not require payment if you are eligible for free prescriptions!

There is no need to see a doctor for:-
A cold – there is nothing a doctor can prescribe that will make the cold pass any quicker
Earache and sore throat – usually these things are viral and will pass without taking antibiotics. Many itmes from the chemist or even from supermarkets can relieve above symptoms effectively. An appointment with the doctor should only be required when home remedies are not controlling the problem. Many minor ailments can be dealt with by the Practice Nurses

For emergencies arising at any time please phone the surgery number.  If the surgery is closed, you will be asked to ring 111
