Important changes to the way repeat prescriptions are ordered
A repeat prescription request must be from you or through your nominated family member or friend.
Pharmacists and dispensing companies will no longer be able to order these for you.
If you care for someone you can request permission to order repeat prescriptions on their behalf.
When is this happening?
The Kakoty Practice will start these changes from 16th January 2018.
What do I need to do?
There are different ways to order, including:
- Online ordering service
- Hand in the tear-off part of your repeat prescription to reception staff
- Telephone using the automatic telephone service
- Post your tear-off part of your prescription to us.
If you would like your local pharmacy to collect your repeat prescription from your GP practice, please talk to your pharmacist.
What is staying the same?
The collection, dispensing and delivery of your prescription from local pharmacies, online pharmacies and appliance contractors will remain the same.
Only the ordering system is changing.
Why is this happening?
Under the old system some patients built up a stock of medicines they no longer needed or did not request.

When to order your repeat prescriptions
We recommend ordering your repeat medications 7 -10 days before your supply is due to run out.
This gives enough time for us to issue your repeat prescription and time for you to collect or have your items delivered from your pharmacist. We work with you and your pharmacist to ensure you get your items safely and on time.
